While most of the spotlight are on casual gaming licenses such Call of Duty and Battlefield, they always have been a few tactical shooters available for the realism freaks. Among others, Veteran will recall the original Ghost Recon (Before it got milked by ubi), Vietcong series, Red Orchestra, Rainbow 6… (That one… milked too..)
After some years without any fresh new WW2 tactical shooter, it seems we’ll finally get a successor to Red Orchestra. Black Matter Studio, founded in 2016, is working on a game that is geared toward realism. After a succesfull Kickstarter campaign, they expect to release it in 2018, with early access in the first half of the year. They seem to know their classics and look forward creating a fine mix between several famous games:
“We’re aiming to make a game that mixes the high-intensity carnage, weapon mechanics and brutality of Red Orchestra 2 with the operational, supply and construction mechanics of Project Reality beneath the meta strategy of a game similar to Company of Heroes. “
The game will first depict the battles during the European Theater of Operations. It will obviously feature US and German forces. Players will have to fight for territory with combined arms action including tanks, artillery and air strikes. Later, the game developer plans to include more factions and theater of war. Like any decent tactical shooter, you will find realistic aiming, crew able vehicle, and bullets that can kill.
Future looks bright for WW2 enthusiast!
