In the recent years, the number of virtual airshow events per year has increased. With one show already behind us in this year, the 3rd Virtual-Aerobatics.com Anniversary show that was held in February, we have yet five more shows lined up.
The closest is already at the end of this month. Thunder Over The Net will be held on the weekend of the 30th April and 1st May. It’s a new show hosted by ‘Striker’, a member of the Virtual Patriots Jet Team and is backed by three more members of the VFAT Staff(Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams). Thunder Over The Net also hosts an air race based on the Creech AFB, Nevada.
During the summer, we are going to have the Virtual Beach Blast on the 26th of June. This show requires the performers to fly their display on the coastline at a designated location. Without many geographical references except a couple of boats, it challenges performers to fly their displays on this virtual airshow.
Virtual AIR16, the virtual replica of the Swiss held AIR14 show, will be held again in September. On the weekend of the 17th and 18th, the Swiss themed virtual airshow will be the platform for many displays on a given airbase that will provide a mountainous background. This is the second year of the Virtual AIR show series and the registrations for this show have just recently opened.
At the end of the year we find the annually held virtual airshow events such as the Virtual United Air Festival(VUAF) on the 22nd and 23rd of October and the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams(VFAT) held on the 9th, 10th and 11th of December. Not many details except the dates have been released but we can expect them to be big, consisting of about 35 demos each.
