Belsimtek, the studio behind a good share of DCS modules available, is ramping up their communication plan. Unlike their usual silence, they published an early report about the F-4E project, along with a sitrep on the F-5 bug tracking. It seems they have a lot on their plate, but reinforcing the interaction with the community will help us staying patient.
The F-4E Phantom II, announced in June, is still in early development. Several of his system are coded and ready to be added into the module, while cockpit starts to show some life. Belsimtek announced that the early access will be features limited tho – The aircraft will have his basic functionnalities and will receive more advanced weapons at a later date. The twin-seater jet being more complex than the F-5E, it is likely that devellopment will be longer than what we are used to.
News about current F-4E progress..
Currently these systems were coded already and are ready to be tuned within whole complex of system for F-4E module:
- Internal Lights
- External Lights
- Oxygen System
- Gear System
- Standby Attitude Indicator
- Attitude Director Indicator
- Horizontal Situation Indicator (Attitude Indicator, Turn and Slip Indicator, Bearing Distance Heading Indicator) — Rear
- Radar Altimeter
- Fuel System
- Part of pneumatic system
- ARC-150 radio
We also want to notice that F-4E will go in early access only with basic capabilities
it will have very basic multicrew and no advanced weaponry at the start (exact list of features for early access will depend on the work flow and we will determine it later). Throughout early access we will bring more and more stuff inside module to finish it.
We’ve heard from community that Belsimtek has some kind of pattern.. e.g. if we are releasing news, then it means module is almost ready. Sorry to “disappoint” you 🙂 But we are taking new effort and changing our ways. We will be going through module updates with the community, and you will know about milestones in our projects, while we are going through them together.”
Along with the F4 update, Belsimtek opened a discussion about current F5-E issue, stating that they are aware of the bug reports, but that their work on the F/A-18C is having priority.
“And as ED forums goes we would like to start from addressing important thing.. bug reports..
We are making new effort to communicate more with community and part of that effort was documenting issues that were reported here. We did look into those we found and for some of them we already formed plans for a solution, some of them still need to be researched, and some of them are just questionable.
But they all have one thing in common: at the moment we can’t promise you fast resolution..
Not until we will be done with our part for F/A-18C.
As soon as F/A-18C will go early access we are planning to start fixing most of the reported bugs.”
