After their return from a two year silence at the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams last December, the Virtual Red Arrows give us a little glimpse into their training progress for this year’s show season, as they prepare for their new display.
From the official Virtual Red Arrows website: (http://www.virtualredarrows.com/stability-update/)
In the HOT Seat: Stability practice in some of our larger
formations such as the iconic Diamond and Big 9.
Our Diamond formation is showcased following our Big Battle Loop. The loop requires a formation change to Diamond whilst in a vertical climb. The formation then twists on the way down out of the loop requiring our pilots to maintain both speed and position.
We practice this area of our show 3 times per week as full concentration is required by every pilot. We find yaw playing a major factor during the twist so we are currently working to achieve consistent aircraft separation in our new show!
